Reza Ghorbani, MD

Dr. Reza Ghorbani, MD, ABIPP, FIPP, is a Harvard-trained, author, inventor and board certified Interventional Pain Management Specialist. He is the President and Medical Director of the Advanced Pain Medicine Institute in the Greater Washington, DC area. Dr. Ghorbani is also Founder and CEO of APMI Physical Therapy and Fitness Center, Founder and CEO of APMI New Beginnings and Rehab Center and Co-founder and CEO of Surgcenter of Greenbelt, LLC. As a leading practitioner his field, Dr. Ghorbani has devoted his entire career to helping patients overcome pain to enable a better quality of life.

 

Dr. Ghorbani graduated with honors from Tufts University and then attended Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a Surgical Internship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center and a residency in Anesthesiology at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He then completed a Fellowship in Pain Management, also at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

 

Prior to his move to Washington, DC in 2007, Dr. Ghorbani was in private practice, providing pain management services in Boston for 10 years. He was affiliated with several prestigious teaching hospitals such as New England Baptist Hospital, known for its treatment there of professional athletic teams and US Olympic teams, and Faulkner Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate. In addition, Dr. Ghorbani was Director of the Interventional Pain Management Program at Boston University Medical Center where he was actively involved in training resident physicians and medical students.

Physical Therapist with 15 years experience in evaluation and treatment planning, manual therapy, dry needling, osteoporosis treatment and fracture prevention, postural and balance reeducation, total joint replacement, post-surgical spinal rehab including fusions and laminectomy, scoliosis modification, kinesio taping, shoulder rehab, amputation and prosthetic training, aide supervision. Treatment techniques include dry needling, manual therapy, traction, gait and balance training, neurological reeducation, joint manipulation, kinesio taping, emotional support, patient and family education. Certified GYROTONIC(R) Instructor. Interests include traveling, reading, films, current events, cooking, cultural exploration, and gardening.
